ܕܪܘܢ drwn 1. ceremony in which consecrated bread is used; 2. consecrated bread
MP 2drōn [dlwn'] consecrated bread, ceremony in which c.b. is used (CPD 27; cf. Boyce – Kotwal 1971); NP durūn a form of prayer used by the fire-worshippers (Steingass 515; Horn 274); cf. Av. draonah- good due in consequence of the subdivision of a property, patrimony (AirWb 769). LS connects with this word the derivative drwnyʾ, occurring in am 2, 590, 8, and meaning, in its opinion, "magus panem sacrans". However, drwnyʾ seems to be a different word, meaning "confidential servant": cf. PS Suppl. 94, and s.v. ● ceremony in which consecrated bread is used am 2, 589, 15; consecrated bread Hoffmann 1880, 96 n. 860; Bedjan, Hist. 440u ◆ LS 167b
