Akkad. LW gunakku cloth or garment (attested in an inscription dating back to the time of Alexander the Great: cf. AHw 1, 298; CAD 5, 134); Talm. Aram. gwnkʾ gōnakkā rug (Telegdi 236, 40). As regards Aram. gwnygwn of all kinds, varied, ManMP gwnggwn, Pahl. gōnag gōnag, NP gūnāgūn, cf. Shaked 1995, 180 and 183. The Iranian word was also borrowed into Greek and Latin: Gr. γαυνάκης, καυνάκης (Frisk 1, 292; Schmitt 1971, 103–105; Id. 1984, 462 f.); Lat. gaunaca (already in Varro).
