(Steingass 526). — The loanword may be older than MP, being already attested in Aram. dḫšt steppe (Qumrān-Targum Buch Hiob), loanword from OP *daxšta- (Hinz 1975, 80); Greenfield – Shaked 1972, 38 f. compare Bab. Aram. daštā field, meadow; Md. dištā; Syr. daštā with NP dašt. Md. has the two allotropes dašt and dištā; according to Widengren 1960, 92, the Md. loanword was borrowed from Parthian, even if the MIr. model is dašt in both the SW and NW varieties (cf.
