3 Appĭa, æ , f. , ville de Phrygie || -ĭānī, ōrum, m. , habitants dʼAppia : Cic. Fam. 3, 9, 1.
A´PPIA(Ἀππία: Eth.Appianus), a town of Phrygia, which, according to Pliny ZYZ(Plin. Nat. 5.29), belonged to the conventus of Synnada. Cicero (ad Fam.3.7) speaks of an application being made to him by the Appiani, when he was governor of Cilicia, about the taxes with which they were burdened, and about some matter of building in their town. At this time then it was included in the Province of Cilicia. The site does not seem to be known.
