The first element may be MP rāh [lʾs] road, way (CPD 70), NP rāh way, road, path, passage (Steingass 565), or less likely MP rah [ls] chariot, wagon (CPD 70; Nyberg 166, s.v. rahy car, vehicle); ManMP rhy, ryh, rh /rahy/ chariot, wagon; ManParth. ryh /reh/ chariot (Durkin-Meisterernst 2004, 295 and 303); OIr. *raθyā, cf. OInd. rathyā a carriage-road, a number of carriages or chariots (Monier-Williams 1899, 866); the second element of the Ir. compound is MP -wār, NP -vār bearing (< OIr. *-bāra-): cf.
