NP xuškār (for xušk-ārd) coarse, unsifted flour, full of bran; a fried egg (Steingass 462). The Syr. word was borrowed from NP, because the MP correspondent of NP xušk "dry" is MP hušk [hwšk'] dry, withered (CPD 45; Nyberg 104), and Ir. h is never rendered with Syr. k (see § 11.3.3). — Talm.
