NP *dand-i ṣīnī, or NP *dand-i čīnī, lit. "tooth of China"; NP dand is a backformation on dandān, which is also the "name of a purgative seed (Croton tiglium)" (Steingass 537); the second element corresponds to NP ṣīnī lit. "of China" (Steingass 798), Arabized form of NP čīnī (ibid. 406).
