ܓܘܪܣܡ gwrsm hunger
Cf. MP gursag [gwlsk] hungry (CPD 38), NP gurusna id., gurs hunger (Steingass 1082); MP gurisnak [gwlysnk'] hungry (Nyberg 86). The final -m of the Syr. form is perhaps a scribal error for -q, which is graphically similar: in this case, the word was borrowed from MP gursag; if, on the contrary, the final -m is the result of an assimilation of Ir. -n to the preceding labial vowel, the model of the loanword was more probably NP gurusna ● BB 475, 12 ◆ LS 134b; Lagarde GA 27, 65; Duval index pers. 216
