ܒܰܣܬܽܘܩܳܐ bstwqʾ bastuqā little earthen pot
MP *bastūk, NP bastū (Arabized forms bastūqat and bastūq) a small glazed earthen vessel (Steingass 186). — Talm. Aram. bstqʾ vessel, pot (Telegdi 235, 33). According to Telegdi, Talm. Aram. bstqʾ (if it is not a mere scribal error) induces us to postulate the existence of Pahl. *bastak near to *bastūk, the later being the form presupposed by the Syr. loanword and by the NP continuation of the restored MP form; cf.
