As regards the semantic value of the Syr. word in JaRS2 128, 7 (and also in JaRS2 40 and 185; in 185 we read rēšā d-dīwān), cf. The MP word, according to Nyberg, possibly comes from OIr. *dipi-wahana- document house, whereas Eilers (1961–1962, 216 n. 18 and 223) suggests OIr. *dipi-pāna-. See also Gyselen 2003.
